Keep your family safe and active. Be well prepared for your trip with the right equipment, smart planning and useful tips. We help you to start your adventure with peace of mind.

Out and about with the whole family

Family trips are a wonderful opportunity to be active together. Whether it's walking, hiking or running – good preparation means peace of mind for everyone. These tips will make your next trip an unforgettable experience.

The right equipment from head to toe

Appropriate clothing is crucial for a safe and pleasant run.

  • Good footwear
Choose sturdy, comfortable shoes that suit the terrain – whether it’s roads, a forest path or gravel.

  • Layered clothing
Multiple layers allow you to quickly adapt to changing temperatures.

  • Sun protection
Head cover, sunscreen and sunglasses protect against UV rays, even when the sky is overcast.

  • A change of clothes
It's a good idea to take extra clothing along for the kids. It's easy to catch a cold when you’ve been sweating.

Stay visible, stay safe

It's important to be visible outdoors, especially when running, walking or hiking, but also when you’re out and about on a bike, skateboard or scooter. That’s why Generali promotes greater visibility and safety in road traffic with the initiative “The Brightest”. Our goal is to prevent accidents by standing out with reflective clothing, helmets and accessories. But there are plenty more tips on how to ensure optimal visibility.

  • Reflectors
Attach reflectors to moving body parts such as arms and legs. These increase detection distance by four to five times.

  • Bright clothes
Wear bright, water-repellent clothing with integrated reflectors to be visible in poor lighting conditions.

  • Reflective stickers
Children can decorate their jackets, backpacks and helmets with reflective stickers. It not only increases safety but is also fun.

  • Torches and headlamps
These help you to see where you're going and make you more visible to others.

  • Visibility for pets
Other family members such as dogs can also be equipped with reflective collars or leashes. For maximum safety.

Our initiative: Visible safe together.

Planning is everything – breaks and refreshments

Good planning makes every trip safer and more relaxed.

  • Snacks
Take enough to make sure everyone can get an energy boost. Children need a small snack more often.

  • Fluids
You can never have enough water. If there aren’t any shops, mountain huts or similar along the way, we recommend at least 1.5 litres per person.

  • Plan in breaks
Children have different needs than adults – plan in additional breaks at playgrounds, picnic areas or viewpoints.

  • Keep an eye on the weather
Check the weather forecast and adapt the route accordingly.

First aid – be prepared for emergencies

A small slip can happen quickly. That’s why a well-equipped first aid kit is a must on every trip.

  • Plasters and dressings
Ideal for minor abrasions or blisters.

  • Disinfectant
    For cleaning wounds.

  • Emergency numbers
Keep the most important numbers for Switzerland to hand at all times.
    Police: 117
    Ambulance: 144
    Rega (air rescue): 1414
