c) Collaboration with third parties and external links:
We work with various third parties in connection with the use of our website. Most of these third parties have a registered office in Switzerland or the EEA. They are sometimes part of globally active groups, which is why data transfer to countries outside these regions, namely to the USA or UK, cannot be ruled out.
Various external links are integrated on the website, including those from partners or social media providers. Details on the handling of your personal data by third-party providers can be found in the respective data protection notices, e.g. of Google, Salesforce, Facebook, Adobe, Captify and Capture Media. Google, Salesforce, Facebook, Adobe, Capture Media, and Hotjar. If you transmit data, in particular personal data, on this worldwide, open network, you do so at your own risk.
Generali pays great attention to the security and freedom from interference of the customer portal. As a rule, data is exchanged using an encrypted protocol. These employees are also trained in handling sensitive data.
In the following, we would like to inform you as a user of our website transparently about the respective processing purposes:
a) Server and application log files:
In order to continuously improve our internet presence and the functioning of our websites, we need an overview of how our website is used. For this purpose, we use web analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics. For the analysis, the web statistics tools also use "cookies", which are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website.
When you visit our website, certain technical data about your visit are collected and processed, which are recorded in logs, for example:
Technical data in itself does not normally allow your identity to be traced. Based on the IP address, we know the identity of your provider and therefore the region from which you are accessing the website, but in principle we cannot reveal your identity - provided you have never logged in with a user account. However, if you identify yourself on our website with your name or an e-mail address, we collect the technical data on a personal basis.
We use this data for technical troubleshooting, to prevent and resolve attacks on our systems, and for marketing purposes. Generali reserves the right to review the log data retrospectively if there are specific indications of suspected illegal use.
The legal basis for the data processing described above is our legitimate interest in providing you with a secure user experience.
b) The processing of your IP addresses:
To protect your privacy, the IP address is always anonymized before storage so that it can neither be assigned to a specific person nor determined.
c) Data processing for customers of our customer portal:
When using our customer portal, your data as a customer may be linked to additional information. This includes links to Generali products and services as well as demographic data such as age group, region of residence and gender or statistical evaluations. Using this information, we can automatically analyze, link and evaluate the resulting data to identify individual customer needs for products and services, such as forecasts of insurance needs due to a change in life circumstances.
Personal data requiring special protection is excluded from this. The findings from the analysis and interpretation of this data can be used to make targeted offers for services and products of the Generali Group (e.g. individualized insurance or service offers, personalization of advertising content).
The legal basis for data processing is our legitimate interest in providing you with the best possible service and offering specific products and, if you choose to use our services, the legal basis is the contractual initiation or execution of a contract or your consent.
This website uses the cookie consent tool OneTrust LLC, Dixon House, 1 Lloyd's Avenue, London, EC3N 3DQ, +44 (800) 011-9778 ("OneTrust") to obtain effective user consent for cookies and cookie-based applications that require consent.
By integrating a corresponding JavaScript code, users are shown a banner when they access the page in which they can give their consent to certain cookies and/or cookie-based applications.
In order for the cookie consent tool to be able to clearly assign page views to individual users and to individually record, log and store the consent settings made by the user for a session duration, certain user information (including the IP address) is collected by the cookie consent tool when our website is called up, transmitted to OneTrust servers and stored there.
This data processing is based on our legitimate interest in a legally compliant, user-specific and user-friendly consent management for cookies and thus in a legally compliant design of our website.
In order to offer you a user-friendly, secure and successful use of our website, so-called cookies are stored on your computer. Almost every website uses cookies.
a) What are cookies:
A cookie is text information that the visited page places through your computer's browser. It is downloaded and placed the first time you visit a website. If you visit this page with the same device a second time, the browser checks whether a corresponding cookie is present. It sends the data stored in the cookie back to the website. In this way, Internet pages can recognize whether the browser has already visited them and "remember" the settings. Consequently, when a cookie is activated, it is assigned an identification number (cookie ID) that identifies your browser and allows the information contained in the cookie to be used. Cookies store certain settings about your browser and data about exchanges with the Internet site through your browser. Cookies only contain information and cannot run malicious applications.
Most of the cookies we use are temporary session cookies that are automatically deleted from your computer or mobile device at the end of the browser session. In addition, we also use permanent cookies. These remain stored on your computer or mobile device after the end of the browser session. Depending on the type of cookie, these permanent cookies remain stored on your computer or mobile device for between one month and ten years and are automatically deactivated after the programmed time has expired.
b) Why do we need cookies?
The cookies are used to enable various functions of our websites. Cookies help, for example, to save your country and language preferences across different pages of an Internet session. The use of cookies also enables us to record and analyze the usage behavior of visitors to our Internet pages. This enables us to make our Internet pages more user-friendly and effective and to make your visit to our Internet pages as comfortable as possible. In addition, we can display information on the site specifically tailored to your interests.
We also use cookies to optimize our advertising. Cookies allow us to present you with advertising and/or special offers and services that may be of particular interest to you based on your use of our Internet site. Our goal is to make our Internet offer as attractive as possible for you and to show you advertising that corresponds to your presumed areas of interest.
c) What data is collected in the process?
Cookies record usage information, such as the date and time of accessing our website, the name of the website visited, the IP address of your terminal device and the operating system used. Cookies also provide information, for example, about which of our Internet pages you visit and from which website you came to our Internet page. We can also use cookies to track the topics you research on our website.
d) Third-party cookies:
The cookies or corresponding technologies stored on your computer or mobile device may also come from independent third parties such as advertising partners or Internet service providers. These cookies enable our partner companies to target you with individualized advertising and measure its impact. The cookies of the partner companies also remain stored on your computer or mobile device for between one month and ten years and are automatically deactivated after the programmed time has expired. Our advertising partners only gain access to data based on an identification number (cookie ID). This is online usage information such as our Internet pages that you have visited and what content you have used.
When you visit our website, we use Google Analytics, Google AdWords Conversion Tracking, Google Remarketing and Adobe Analytics. Google Analytics & Adobe Analytics collect data that Generali Group Switzerland uses for internal analyses, to improve the website, and for market analyses and evaluations in connection with website use. This data is transferred to Google and Adobe for processing. The data recorded in this way includes access date/time, your IP address, access URL, origin URL, search terms used, and information about your operating system and browser. To ensure anonymization, your IP address is transmitted in shortened form. In Google AdWords Conversion Tracking, a cookie is used to determine performance after you have clicked on an AdWords ad. As part of Google Remarketing, cookies are used to collect the surfing behavior of website visitors for marketing purposes in anonymized form and used to tailor advertising offers to your interests.
You have the option to disable the mentioned web analytics services by installing appropriate add-ons:
in your browser. Google Analytics collects the information anonymously and the website trends do not contain any information about individual visitors.
This website also integrates a tracking solution provided by Capture Media AG (hereinafter "Capture Media"). Capture Media is a Swiss company based in Zurich, which measures the use of this website in the context of engagements and events. Tracking is anonymous, so no reference to specific or identifiable individuals can be made. Capture Media offers an "opt-out" option for this tracking.
For more information about data protection and about the rights of data subjects in connection with tracking by Capture Media, please refer to chapter 7. web analytics.
If you choose not to accept our cookies or the cookies and technologies of our partner companies, you will not be able to see certain information or use some features on our websites.
e) Storage period:
The storage period varies depending on the type of cookie, but is generally no longer than 2 years, apart from our third-party cookies for advertising. After the programmed time has expired, the cookies are automatically deactivated. Certain third-party cookies for advertising may have a longer storage period, although Generali has no way to limit this storage period. However, you can delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time.
f) Hotjar:
We use Hotjar in order to better understand the needs of our users and to optimize the offer on this website. Using Hotjar's technology, we get a better understanding of our users' experiences (e.g. how much time users spend on which pages, which links they click, what they like and don't like, etc.) and this helps us to tailor our offer according to our users' feedback. Hotjar works with cookies and other technologies to collect information about our users' behavior and about their devices (in particular, device IP address (collected and stored only in anonymized form), screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), information about the browser used, location (country only), to display our website in the preferred language). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. The information is not used by Hotjar or us to identify individual users or merged with other data about individual users. For more information, please see Hotjar's privacy policy.
You can object to the storage of a user profile and information about your visit to our website by Hotjar, as well as to the setting of Hotjar tracking cookies on other websites, by clicking on this opt-out link.
g) Legal basis:
The legal basis in the case of strictly necessary cookies is our legitimate interest in storing cookies to enable an optimized website that is free of technical faults. The legal basis for the other cookie categories is your consent.
We use web analysis tools to obtain information about the use of our Internet pages and to improve our Internet offering,. These tools are usually provided by a third-party provider. As a rule, the information collected for this purpose about the use of a website is transmitted to the third-party provider's server via cookies. Depending on the third-party provider, these servers may be located abroad.
The IP addresses are abbreviated when the data is transmitted, which prevents the identification of your end device (computer, tablet, smartphone). The IP address transmitted by your browser when using third-party tools is not linked to other data from these third parties.
a) Google Analytics:
Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of your use of our website and our online services. The information generated by the cookie is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored.
IP anonymization is activated on our website, so that the IP address of users is shortened beforehand by Google within Switzerland or the EEA.
Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On our behalf, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating the use of the website by users, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. In doing so, we receive exclusively anonymous evaluations from Google. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data from Google.
You can determine whether you want to participate in the tracking process via the cookie settings.
The legal basis is your consent.
b) Adobe Analytics:
Adobe Analytics also uses cookies to help analyze your use of our website and online services. The information generated by the cookie is usually transmitted to and stored on an Adobe server in the United States.
IP anonymization is enabled on our website, so users' IP addresses are truncated beforehand by Adobe within Switzerland or the EEA.
Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to an Adobe server in the USA and shortened there. Adobe will use this information on our behalf for the purpose of evaluating the use of the website by users, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. In doing so, we only receive anonymous evaluations from Adobe. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Adobe Analytics is not merged with other Adobe data.
You can determine whether you want to participate in the tracking process via the cookie settings.
The legal basis is your consent.
c) Fusedeck:
The tracking solution fusedeck of Capture Media AG (hereinafter "Capture Media") is integrated on this website. Capture Media is a Swiss company based in Zurich, which measures the use of this website on behalf of engagements and events. The tracking is anonymous, so that no reference to specific or identifiable persons can be made.
Further information on data protection as well as on the rights of data subjects in connection with fusedeck including the "opt-out" option (possibility to object) can be found in the privacy policy and objection policy.
a) Forms:
If you fill out a contact form on our website or send us an e-mail or other electronic message, your information will only be stored for processing the request and possible related questions and used exclusively in the context of the request.
b) Your personal data:
If you choose to provide personal information in the forms or data fields provided on our websites, you have the right to review and correct your information at any time by selecting the appropriate application. Certain websites may ask you for permission to use information about you for certain purposes. You may subsequently agree to this or refuse to allow it to be used.
c) Brochures and newsletters:
By means of brochures or newsletters, you will be informed about current events (such as events, trade fairs, etc.) as well as product news and market analyses/trends. If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the specified e-mail address and agree to receive the newsletter. For the registration to a newsletter we use the so-called double-opt-in procedure. This means that after you have provided your e-mail address, we will send you a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address you have provided, in which we ask you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter. If you do not confirm this, your registration will be automatically deleted after a processing period. Insofar as you confirm the brochure or newsletter receipt, we will store your e-mail address until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. The storage serves the sole purpose of being able to send you the brochure or newsletter. Furthermore, we store your IP addresses and the time of sending the first e-mail each time you register and confirm in order to prevent misuse of your personal data.
Our brochures or newsletters allow us to draw certain conclusions. Here, among other things, it can be analyzed how many recipients have opened the newsletter message and how often which link in the newsletter was clicked. You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the brochure or newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you provide us with will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time via the link provided in the respective newsletter.
d) Calculator:
If you use the calculator accessible via our websites, we process the data you enter for the purpose stated in each case, e.g. to calculate your financial situation. The tracking of the use of these calculators is carried out exclusively on the basis of anonymous behavioral data of the users, which means that it is not possible to draw any conclusions about individuals. If you fill out and submit the form associated with the calculator, your information will be stored transparently and with your consent only for the processing of the request and possible related further questions and used exclusively in the context of the request.
We have included links to social media channels on the website. If you follow such a link, the data protection notices of the respective providers apply (cf. in particular with regard to the purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing of your data by these providers as well as your rights and setting options).
Generali is not responsible for the data processing of these providers and has no influence on their data processing. Generali also provides information and interaction options on various social media platforms. At the points where we can exert influence and parameterize data processing, we work within the scope of the possibilities available to us to ensure data protection-compliant handling on the social media platform. Please refer to the respective data protection statement for more detailed information on data processing by the providers of the social media platform.
The legal basis for the integration of external links and the presence on social media is our legitimate interest in offering you the content as a service. We also use social media for information and advertising purposes or to communicate effectively with platform users and to be able to evaluate this. If services are only activated when you select them, the legal basis is your consent.
We will be happy to provide you with information about what personal data we process about you and how we process it specifically (e.g. processing purposes; the categories of personal data; the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed; the planned storage period; the existence of a right to rectification, deletion, restriction of processing or the origin of your data).
You also have the right to revoke any consent you may have given for the use of your personal data (however, this is only possible if the data is not required for processing, for example in connection with contractual obligations). However, any revocation of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing that has taken place up to that point. You have the right to object to the processing of personal data relating to you at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. After an objection has been made, Generali will no longer process the personal data relating to you, unless we can prove compelling contractual, legal or other interests worthy of protection for the processing, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims. In all cases where data processing is based on your consent, you have the right to revoke it at any time. The revocation of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.
You have the option to adjust your cookie settings according to your needs at any time. Furthermore, you have the right to have your personal data deleted, provided that no contractual or legal rights oppose this or the deletion proves to be technically impossible or involves a disproportionate effort. You have a right to have your personal data corrected and/or completed vis-à-vis Generali if the processed personal data concerning you should be incorrect or incomplete. In the event of a violation of your rights, you have the possibility to file a complaint with the competent data protection authority. The exercise of your rights usually requires that you clearly prove your identity (e.g. by a copy of your ID card, unless your identity is otherwise clear or can be verified). To exercise your rights, you can contact us at the address given in "Person responsible (controller), data protection officer" (above).
Generali may revise this Online Privacy Statement from time to time. Changes to this privacy policy will be communicated immediately on this and related websites. If you have received notice of an amendment to our data protection statement and continue to use our websites, you agree that data may be processed in accordance with the amended data protection statement. Generali reserves the right to amend this data protection declaration at any time without prior notice, in particular in line with current legal provisions and changes in business processes.
