New CEO: Change at the top of Generali Switzerland

  • Rémi Vrignaud will become CEO of Generali Switzerland starting May 1, 2025.
  • Christoph Schmallenbach will step down as CEO on April 30, 2025, but will continue to advise Generali Switzerland.

Adliswil – The Generali Group and the Board of Directors of Generali Switzerland have appointed Rémi Vrignaud as the new CEO, effective May 1, 2025, pending approval by the supervisory authority FINMA. He will succeed Christoph Schmallenbach, who will step down as CEO on April 30, 2025, but will continue to advise Generali Switzerland during the transition period.

Rémi Vrignaud, 48, has over seven years of successful tenure as CEO of Allianz Austria and is now taking on a new professional challenge. He began his career in 2001 within the Allianz Group, holding various leadership positions and serving as CEO in different countries for twelve years.

Vrignaud holds a Master's degree in Banking and Finance and is known as a dynamic leader with a proven track record in implementing high-performance business model transformations and a customer-centric leadership approach.

Change after successfully initiated transformation

Under the leadership of Christoph Schmallenbach (62), Generali Switzerland has initiated a profound transformation. The company has strengthened its financial foundation, expanded sales, and significantly improved customer satisfaction.

Schmallenbach, who has been with the Generali Group in various roles for nearly 35 years, believes now is the right time for a leadership change: “With Rémi, a proven transformation expert is taking the helm of Generali Switzerland to lead the company into the next implementation steps of our strategy. I thank all stakeholders, especially my board team and Generali employees, for the great trust and strong support over the past more than three years."
