Storm ahead: Helpful warning apps.

Because an early warning can prevent major damage caused by bad weather.

Whether it’s a hiking trip, a garden party or a day at the lake: Proper preparation should include checking the forecast. Early warning about approaching storms can help prevent property damage. These three weather warning apps can help.

MeteoSwiss: the weather app of the Swiss Confederation

The official app of the Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss informs you about approaching bad weather as well as the latest news on current avalanche and forest fire dangers. This makes the app particularly useful for mountain hikers.

Wetter-Alarm: the weather app all-rounder

The Swiss weather app Wetter-Alarm informs you through personalised push notifications early on about any imminent bad weather near your location. As well as the latest forecasts, the app also has a lightning radar and tells you what to do in the event of thunderstorms, hail and storms.

SRF Meteo: weather alerts

The SRF Meteo app not only informs you about the current weather situation and weather forecasts, but also warns you of any imminent severe weather. In the app, you can activate push notifications for different locations and get early notifications if wind, hail or thunderstorms are approaching. Especially useful for amateur gardeners: the app also warns you of frost at night.

Where do I find these apps?
